TAG Heuer in Brazil (?)

"Starting March 28, 2010, São Paulo, TAG Heuer will enjoy the honour of being official timekeeper and timing supplier for the Brazilian Motorsport largest series: Stock Car Brasil.

With 12 events live on Globo TV, 16 teams of 2 drivers, 9 million TV spectators, and 450 thousand people at races every year, Stock car is the reference in the Motorsport series hold in Latin America .

A key player in the Motor racing championships since 1950 from the glorious Ferrari’s years in the 1970’s to the nowadays winning F1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes team drivers, TAG Heuer will more than ever play an active role motoracing in the future, through its timing expertise and knowledge provided to the Brazilian series

President of Vicar, the championship organization company, Carlos Col says: “The name TAG Heuer immediately conjures up visions of motor racing races. We enjoy welcoming the TAG Heuer by Chronelec solutions. As official timekeeper of the most famous performing teams and championships in the world, TAG Heuer has endlessly pushed back the limits of accuracy and precision. Its best in class timekeeping instruments will proud equip the most talentuous Brazilian series .

Jean-Christophe Babin , the TAG Heuer’s President and CEO states : “ Having revolutionized sports timekeeping during our previous and legendary motor racing mandates, TAG Heuer is grateful for the opportunity that the Stock Car Brasil has given to showcase the unsurpassed reliability and modularity of its Global Timing Solutions technologies, and look forward to using this invaluable experience in this new challenge. This is a wonderful way to celebrate our 150 years on the timing front “.

Pierre Rousseau, Chronelec’s founder and president of the TAG Heuer’s partner company confirms: “ The championship will be timed by the TAG Heuer by Chronelec ProTime Elite decoder and managed by the Elite V2 software. Timing data for the speed trap and all sectors times will be provided by the highly innovative TAG Heuer by Chronelec Distant decoders and transmitted to the Timing Centre through wireless technology. Our revolutionary OLED Messenger device will be on board of the vehicles and will instantly inform drivers about safety regulations sent by the race direction” .

TAG Heuer is the world master of precision even having the technology to measure and display to 1/10,000th of a second, as in the Race of Champions 2006, where it’s timing technology recorded the closest gap ever in any racing competition at 2/10,000th of a second difference. Through its 25 years partnership with the F1 Vodafone McLaren Mercedes Team, TAG Heuer has been associated with a long line of McLaren racing talent that includes Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, and more recently Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton."
